The Sustainable Wash: Washing Machine Wash Performance Explained

What decides how well a washing machine cleans? Four variables: temperature, chemistry, mechanical action and time. Each carries a trade-off in energy, water, detergent or fabric life. This white paper explains how they interact and why the drive system is central to balancing them. Part 1 of 3.

The most powerful direct drive

With busy work and social lives, looking after the wellbeing of our families and children, consumers have an increasing interest in larger washers, dryers and combinations of the two. To create generously sized, efficient running machines, we committed to developing a high power and high torque motor for our customer, enabling them to enter the market with premium large capacity machines. The MB45T59 is the most powerful direct drive motor that we’ve ever developed, suitable

Design & development of direct drive motors‍ In this article, we investigate some of the options involved with the design and development of a new direct drive motor or complete drive system. What are some of the considerations to be made when choosing the best path for development? Can you do much of the design and development yourself? Below are some of the options that could be considered. Design consultancy‍ The product's core design is the foundation for the project and

Who are the players in the drive system/electric motor market?

Who are the players in the drive system/electric motor market? ‍ Electric motors & drive systems If we think about the main sources for design, manufacture or supply of electric motors or drive systems, we can find a multitude of contenders in the market. However, for the purposes of this overview document, we have identified some of the major players and broken down the list into several sub-categories, consisting of producers of industrial and residential applications only.

Why use permanent magnet motors?

Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) are advanced AC electric motors consisting of a stator, and a rotor which is connected to the output shaft. Permanent magnet motors typically use Neodymium magnets which are embedded in the rotor to create torque garnered by electromagnetism. This type of motor differs from most other electric motors, whereby the rotor generates its own magnetic field through induction, or where the field currents are transferred to the rotor by brus
